West Town Lane Girls 2 – 2 Holymead Girls (Katrine, Eloise)

Last night our Girls’ Football Team played in a fantastic match against our friends from West Town Lance. It was a very evenly matched encounter played by two very good teams. WTL took the lead midway through the first half and kept their lead at the break. A brave save from Paige and some determined defending from Molly and Kaya made sure they did not extend their lead. At the other end, Eloise struck a beautiful shot into the top corner only to see it disallowed as it was from an indirect kick in. We came out and dominated the second half; Katrine smashed a shot in off the bar for the equaliser before Eloise was rewarded for her powerful midfield display with a goal to take the lead. Moments from the end WTL broke away to grab an equaliser. It was a highly entertaining and competitive game played in a great spirit. Both teams were a credit to their schools. There were some great performances all over the pitch; Yasmin was a constant threat down the right wing and Maddie caused problems for the opposition defence through her tenacious closing down.  It was good to see K.T. and Nicole making their first appearances at this level and contributing to an excellent team performance. A special mention to Kaya and Molly who were outstanding in defence. This was a fantastic performance and I was incredibly proud of the whole team; thank you for your hard work and for representing our school in such a positive light.
