Spanish

It is our intent to use the Language Angels scheme of work and resources to ensure we offer a relevant, broad, vibrant and ambitious foreign languages curriculum that will inspire and excite our pupils using a wide variety of topics and themes. The intent is that we want teaching to foster pupils’ curiosity and inspire a passion for learning foreign languages. Learning a second language will also offer pupils the opportunity to explore relationships between language and identity, develop a deeper understanding of other cultures and the world around them with a better awareness of self, others and cultural differences. By equipping teachers to provide high quality teaching, we hope that pupils will gain confidence in expressing their thoughts and ideas in Spanish in both speaking and writing. This will provide the foundations for further language learning in KS3.

We are lucky that children are able to play the games on Language Angels at home. Please click on the image to take you to the website.

Spanish Day!

We had a fantastic Spanish Day exploring the culture of Spain. We tasted Spanish food, explored Spanish artists and enjoyed watching a flamenco performance!
International Mother Language Day!

International Mother Language Day was an opportunity for us to celebrate the diverse range of languages spoken here at Holymead. Children shared stories in their mother tongue language and enjoyed participating in a range of activities to explore why language learning is important. We were also delighted to welcome UWE language specialists to deliver a session to each class.
